     Many candidates walk their district going door to door to meet the voters and leave a doorknocker behind at homes where nobody answers the door.

    Here's another great use for doorknockers that I learned from a very successful local political party leader. He would use doorknockers as a reminder to vote. The night before the election, he would have teams of volunteers put doorknockers on as many houses as possible. The next morning (election day) when voters left their homes to go to work, there was his doorknocker waiting to remind them to vote.
